Four Kurzman Eisenberg attorneys named Super Lawyers

Four partners at  Kurzman Eisenberg Corbin & Lever, LLP have been named to the 2015 edition of New York Metro Super Lawyers, a listing of the region’s outstanding attorneys who are recognized for professional achievement in the New York Metropolitan area. Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters attorney rating service, compiles its annual list using a patented selection process involving peer nominations, independent research, and peer evaluations. No more than 5% of attorneys in New York State are selected for the Super Lawyer list each year. This year, the Super Lawyers organization also recognized litigation associate Lisa Capone as a Rising Star, an honor given to no more than 2.5% of attorneys in New York State who are either younger than age 40 or who have been practicing for 10 years or less.

Lever, a founding partner of the White Plains, New York law practice which currently has 35 attorneys. “These honors reinforce the excellence of our team. Almost all of our partners and senior attorneys have practiced at major New York City law firms, and they continue to provide sophisticated legal services to clients with complex legal issues and significant commercial transactions. The firm’s work and reputation is widely respected.”

Jessica Galligan Goldsmith, a resident of Armonk, New York, was first named a Super Lawyer in 2009 and has been included on the list every year since then. Beginning in 2013, Ms. Goldsmith has been named one of the top Women Attorneys in the New York Metropolitan area. AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, Ms. Goldsmith advises clients in the areas of estate and gift planning, charitable planning, estate administration and planning for closely held businesses. Ms. Goldsmith is co-Managing Partner of the firm, and a member of the exclusive Estate Planning Council of Westchester County Inc.  Ms. Goldsmith is also a member of the New York City Bar Association where she serves on the Estate and Gift Tax Committee, as well as a member of the Metro New York Philanthropic Advisors Network, the New York State Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, and the Westchester Women’s Bar Association. Ms. Goldsmith is admitted to the Bar in both New York and Connecticut, as well as in the United States Tax Court.

Stuart Berg, a partner in the firm’s real estate department and resident of Chappaqua, New York, was first named to the Super Lawyer list last year. In the New York metropolitan area, Mr. Berg is considered to be one of the most effective "dirt lawyers," a phrase used to describe legal experts who can work out problematic transactions so that undeveloped or underdeveloped properties can be turned into lucrative assets. Mr. Berg is an experienced litigator who has successfully represented parties in complex commercial landlord-tenant disputes, commercial mortgage foreclosure actions, land valuations, mechanic lien litigation, and construction-related disputes. Mr. Berg’s real estate expertise also includes cooperative and condominium law. Mr. Berg is admitted to the Bar in both New York and New Jersey, as well as in the United States District Courts of the Southern and Eastern District of New York and the United States Courts of Appeals for the First and Second Circuits.

Steven M. Goldman of Nyack, New York has been selected for the 2015 Metro New York Super Lawyers List for the first time this year. A partner in the firm’s real estate department, Mr. Goldman's practice covers all facets of the cooperative/condominium conversion ownership process.  Mr. Goldman represents cooperative and condominium boards of directors (managers), as well as developers and sponsors of condominium/cooperative offering plans, in the creation and offering for sale of ownership interest in such projects. Mr. Goldman has been involved in numerous landmark projects in New York City and the metropolitan area, representing the real estate industry’s top developers. Mr. Goldman is admitted to the Bar in New York State, and in the United States Tax Court as well as the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Richard L. Chadakoff of New Rochelle, New York, has concluded many major commercial real estate transactions for renowned developers and financiers. A deft problem solver and versatile attorney, Mr. Chadakoff is skilled at finding ways to get deals done. Mr. Chadakoff has been involved in numerous real estate financings, workouts, joint ventures, acquisitions and dispositions, representing lenders, borrowers, buyers and sellers.  Mr. Chadakoff is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been awarded the highest distinctions in his profession. He was selected as a New York Metro Super Lawyer from 2006 through 2011 and from 2013- 2015. Mr. Chadakoff has been included repeatedly in “Who’s Who Legal-Real Estate”; “New York Area’s Best Lawyers”; “Best Lawyers in America”; “Legal 500”; Chambers USA-“America’s Leading Lawyers for Business”; and Chambers Global-“The World’s Leading Lawyers.”  He is a member of the Board of Advisors of Chicago-Ticor Title Guarantee Company, and admitted to the Bar in New York.

Lisa M. Capone, a resident of White Plains, NY, is an associate in the firm’s litigation department, and is experiences in Surrogate’s Court litigation as well as art law, real estate and commercial litigation. Ms. Capone has helped the firm successfully represent clients in numerous disputes in a wide range of commercial matters, including claims to the title and authenticity of artwork. Ms. Capone is admitted to the Bar in New York and New Jersey.
