Kurzman Eisenberg’s attorneys, Caroline I. Keegan and Gadi Hill, represented David Norr in his acquisition of James Cohan Gallery, now NORR COHAN, one of New York’s most respected contemporary art galleries.
Founded by James and Jane Cohan in 1999, James Cohan Gallery has spent more than two decades cultivating long-standing relationships with a diverse roster of internationally recognized artists, including Yinka Shonibare, Fred Tomaselli, Tuan Andrew Nguyen, and Firelei Báez.
The gallery currently represents forty artists across its Tribeca locations at 48-50 Walker Street and 52 Walker Street. David Norr joined the gallery in 2015 as Senior Director, became a partner in 2018, and co-owner in 2021. With this transition, David assumes sole ownership and leadership of the gallery, marking the next chapter in its history.
The transaction reflects a sustained commitment to the gallery’s artists, staff, and institutional partners, and preserves the community and long-term vision that have defined the gallery’s success and was structured to protect the gallery’s ongoing operations, honor its existing artist and estate relationships, and provide continuity for the team David has built alongside the Cohans.
