Guardianships

The Firm's attorneys have significant experience and expertise in the administration of Guardianship matters. Several of the Firm's attorneys are approved by the New York State Office of Court Administration and are often appointed by both Surrogates and Supreme Court judges as Guardians and Court Evaluators, as well as Guardians ad Litem in contested and uncontested Guardianship proceedings. Our attorneys often help clients bring a Guardianship Proceeding, and can handle each stage of the process from the petition to the annual accountings. The Firm's attorneys represent Guardians with regard to day-to-day administration and assist them in preparing and defending their annual and final Guardianship accountings. When problems arise, attorneys in the Firm's litigation department have experience handling contested Guardianships for both minor children and adults with disabilities.
