Kara Schissler is the Chair of Kurzman Eisenberg’s Estate & Trust Administration practice group. She concentrates her practice in trusts and estates law including personal and tax driven estate planning, probate, and complex estate and trust administration. Kara works closely with individual clients, as well as with their accountants and other family and financial advisors, to help achieve their unique estate planning goals. She assists her clients in the preparation of a wide range of estate planning documents, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, insurance trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, dynasty trusts, trusts for minors, charitable trusts, spousal lifetime access trusts, health care proxies, living wills, and durable powers of attorney. In addition, Kara represents executors and trustees, including banks and trust companies. She provides advice in connection with all aspects of estate and trust administration including raising cash, making distributions, preparing and filing estate and gift tax returns, and reviewing fiduciary income tax returns, and formal and informal accountings in Surrogate’s Court. She has significant experience in estate audits with the Internal Revenue Service.

Prior to joining the firm, Kara worked at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, New York, NY, from 2001 through 2010.
