  • On June 17 and 18, 2010, Susan Slater-Jansen gave presentations regarding the Protection of Inherited IRAs to the Asset Protection Committee and Employee Benefits Committee of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) in St. Louis, Mo.
  • On June 7, Michael H. Friedman spoke at a Westchester County Bar Association seminar entitled "Select Issues in Fiduciary Liability", which was held at the Hudson Valley Bank.

  • On May 27, Susan Slater-Jansen spoke at the UJA-Federation of New York Westchester Estate, Tax & Financial Planning Conference, which was held at the Westchester Marriott Hotel. Susan's presentation was entitled "Roth IRAs: With All the Hype, Do I Really Benefit?"
  • On May 17, 2010, Litigation Partner Fred D. Weinstein spoke at the FAE/BVR Business Valuation Conference, sponsored by the New York State Society of CPAs and held in New York City at the Marriott Marquis Times Square. The topic of the conference was "Current Issues in New York Fair Value Shareholder Proceedings", with the focus on discounts for lack of marketability and built-in capital gains and, in particular, the Jamaica Acquisition Bus Company case in which Mr. Weinstein successfully acted as lead trial counsel for the dissenting shareholders. Mr. Weinstein was joined by The Honorable Ira B. Warshawsky, Justice of the Commercial Division, Nassau County Supreme Court, and attorneys Peter Mahler, the moderator of the program, and Michael Amato. The program, designed for business valuation and litigation support professionals, was also webcast live.
  • Joel S. Lever was a featured speaker in the New York State Bar Association seminar "Paying Partners What They’re Worth: Alternatives for Law Firms."
  • Michael Weitzner spoke on the Tax Considerations in the Choice of Business Entitysponsored by the Corporarte and Commercial Law Committee of the Westchester County Bar Association. The program "Choice of Entity and Aligning Governance and Management Structures with Your Client's Business Objectives" covered the process of choosing the correct form of entity from the taxation and limited liability perspectives and then aligning governance and management structures with clients’ business objectives

  • Stuart Berg was a guest lecturer for the NYS Bar Association CLE series concerning mortgage foreclosures and spoke on "Representation of Borrowers in Foreclosure Actions".
  • Susan Slater-Jansen spoke at the Estate Planning Conference on October 20, 2009. The topic was "Life Insurance and Other Insurance Issues", "ERISA and Qualified Plan Benefits" and "Charitable Planning".
