Divorce Mediation

Divorce mediation is an alternative approach to resolving conflicts between parties. Mediation is a voluntary process where divorcing couples work together with a mediator in a non-adversarial forum. The mediator guides and advises the parties with a view towards achieving a mutually fair and realistic agreement to meet the needs of the parties and/or the family. During the mediation process, parties agree to provide financial information and documentation, agree to confidentiality and agree to discuss outstanding issues openly and honestly. When consensus is reached, the mediator will prepare a written agreement, and each party will have the agreement reviewed by an attorney of his or her choice.

Mediation is an opportunity for individuals to express their concerns with one another and to make decisions cooperatively that will have long term financial and emotional consequences. The Firm’s divorce attorneys often work as mediators and can help clients review and modify mediation agreements.

If divorce Mediation is not successful, our divorce attorneys are available to represent clients interested in collaborative divorce and divorce litigation.
