Stuart Berg Is Named a 2014 New York Metro Super Lawyers for Legal Expertise in Commercial, Multifamily, and Cooperative/Condominium Real Estate Transactions and Litigation

Stuart Berg, a partner in the Real Estate Departmentof Kurzman Eisenberg Corbin & Lever, LLP, has been named to the 2014 edition of New York Metro Super Lawyers, a listing of the region’s outstanding attorneys who are recognized for professional achievement in the New York Metropolitan area.

Mr. Berg has earned the reputation as the “go-to” lawyer to facilitate multimillion-dollar real estate transactions. He has been involved in the acquisition and sale of numerous buildings in New York City and throughout the country. During the recent economic downturn, he played an instrumental role in turning around distressed assets and modifying loans.

He is one of three partners at Kurzman Eisenberg to be honored as a 2014 Super Lawyer, joining Jessica Galligan Goldsmith, head of the Trusts and Estates department, and Richard L. Chadakoff of the Real Estate department. Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters attorney rating service, compiles its annual list using a patented selection process involving peer nominations, independent research, and peer evaluations. Each year, only five percent of all attorneys in New York State are selected for the Super Lawyers list.

Multimillion-Dollar Real Estate Projects

In addition to the real estate transactions, Mr. Berg also is a successful litigator and mediator of complex commercial landlord-tenant disputes, construction-related disputes, commercial mortgage foreclosure actions, land valuations, and mechanic’s lien actions.

“Stu has a tremendous capacity to assess a situation and correctly identify the opportunities, and develop solutions to overcome possible barriers,” says Joel S. Lever, a founding partner of Kurzman Eisenberg. “Real estate developers consider him to be one of the profession’s best ‘dirt lawyers,’ a legal expert who can help turn undeveloped or underdeveloped properties into lucrative assets.”

Prior to joining Kurzman Eisenberg in 2005, Mr. Berg served as a partner at Brown Raysman Millsetin Felder & Steiner, LLP, and Baer Marks & Upham. A resident of Chappaqua, New York, Mr. Berg earned his law degree at St. John’s University School of Law and a B.B.A. from Baruch College of the City University of New York. He is admitted in both New York and New Jersey, as well as the U.S. District Courts of the Southern and Eastern District of New York and The United States Courts of Appeals for the First and Second Circuits.
